It’s New York Fashion Week SS15, one of the largest fashion weeks in the world. And I had to tune in to find out the western fashion trends us Asians could inherit and wear in the UK.
Iif you’re an Asian like me, you will know us Asian like to do everything last minute or late hence western runway shows are perfect for us as we get to see fashion a year in advance.
I’ve picked three of the shows with western and eastern flavours that stood out for me. You can’t say l didn’t prepare you ;)
I took a shine to Nanette Lepore linear panel dresses and paisley prints from which the designer created flowy summery dresses perfect for Spring/Summer 2015.
If your anything like me, l’m not a big fan of displaying my body e.g arms and neck area. If your the same my best advice would be to tailor a dress to your needs and preferences e.g add sleeves. Buy dresses you can add sleeves to; even plain chiffon sleeves.
Now you can see why l partially liked the kaftan for the more modest yet fashionable look.
Carolina Herrera used big floral prints to create elegant dresses you could wear an evening out if you paired the floral red dress (above, image 3) with a black blazer. Or try matching plain tops with floral patterned skirts.
My favourite was the the beautifully crafted black flower detailed midi dress. That’s all you have to wear with black tapered trousers to get heads turning and mainly from females thinking - wow that lady looks amazing!
We are loving the big, bold and in your face prints.
If you’re thinking of updating your formal & casual wardrobe, Victoria Beckham’s collection is the one to watch. In the latest New York Fashion Week collection Victoria Beckham consistently uses creams, black and burgundy clothing. She keep’s it simple where as, each piece has been tailored with women wanting practical, stylish yet subtle fashion in mind.
Victoria Beckham knows how to dress chic, sexy and just everyday form-casual - she’s won me over with this collection. I love the Victoria Beckham looks - if l could sleep, eat and work in then l would!
