Tarun Tahiliani Talks Trends at Lakme Fashion Week

As most of you may be aware, Lakme Fashion Week has been underway in India this week and l've been sharing the latest fashion trends on Instagram. One designer l am anticipating to see but showcasing tomorrow at the grand finale shared his secret fashion advice with us.

He's a veteran to Lakme Fashion Week and known for his exquisite Indian fashion is no other designer, Tarun Tahiliani. We can't praise him enough for what he's done for Indian fashion industry, not only an innovator he still loves mountains with his enthralling collections. And it's not only us who are fascinated by the fashion is creates but western music artist Lady Gaga, who wore one of his saree master pieces.

Thanks to Lakme Fashion Week, we got to get the fashion tips and trends from the man himself. I have to add his advice was gold dust, from building a fashion identity to being subtle and adapting to western fashion scene. Now finally you ladies can see what l've been harping on about in my blogs and how to create that elegant fashion fusion.

Start making notes ladies - here's the exclusive Lakme Fashion Week, Tarun Tahiliani Q&A;

What was your inspiration for the collection you will be showcasing at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015?

'The Spring Summer’15 collection is inspired by the beautiful works of art done by the Singh Twins, artists based in the UK.'

What are the trends you will be showcasing in the Lakme 15 years celebration?

'Over the last 15 years we have worked on exciting structures like the concept sarees, dhoti pants, lungi skirts and more...'

Which is the one trend you think will be the highlight this season?

'The dholi drape' yet Tarun Tahiliani gave us some inspirational and beautiful advice,

'It's not about trends. It's about one's individual style and personality that should be reflected in whatever they wear. I think for me the trend is to be true to yourself!!'

How have your design sensibilities changed through the years?

'As people are exposed to western structured clothing and comfort we have been adapting our styles to meet the changing needs.'

Which form of draping flatters Indian curves more?

'The saree has always been my favourite. It can be worn in myriad ways.

What is your top tip for styling?

'The styling shouldn’t be too overbearing. You could wear a scarf. Also belts are great to enhance the waistline.'

What is your best advice for designers trying to break into the fashion industry?

'It always pays to work hard.'

I must say it was astonishing to read Tarun Tahiliani's responses as he thinks the same as my sister and me. All the points but obviously l wouldn't know what to advice with the Indian dholi drape and Indian fashion for curvy women.

I hope these tips coming from one of the best Indian designer in the world will convince you rather than me hammering the advice for a change ;)
