When l heard there was a Bloggers event by Migreat, l immediately thought it was a bloggers event for immigrants. Don't even ask me how l came to that silly conclusion. Funnily enough, knowing that l still attended and I'm literally in hysterics whilst thinking about it now.
The friendly organisers, Migreat organised a free event for bloggers and the made the effort to invite respected speakers from Google, BBC, UK Asians, Huffington Post, WordPress expert and New Zulu. I was sold at Google, l didn't care if it was an event for immigrants :D
The event for anyone passionate about blogging, people thinking of starting a blog or just needing some womanly love & support from fellow ladies. One of The Desi Dossiers sisters, Nigar and me sat back to see what Migreat had in store for us. Anything to do with blogging you can always find us lingering around like leeches.
The event consisted of insightful Google seminars, panel discussions with experts within the industry, networking and most importantly eating ;) The not only discussed blogging but how to start a blog, SEO tips and finding your passion.
One thing you can never get away from as these types of events is inspirational stories which on this occasion were one of the highlights of the event. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the attendees experiences and gripping stories. It was a pleasure to just walk up to them and chat away knowing you wouldn't be frowned at or judged. It didn't matter about your job, status or background. We had doctor, dieticians, marketers, graduates and journalists in the audience. All of that didn't matter these ladies were ready to listen and before like students again which was something completely different to their day jobs!
It was all about learning, feeling empowered and networking. We need more people like the ladies l met who are will to take advice and learn - no pride comes into it but an open mind, heart and kind words.
Events like these are also great to meet advocates like, British Asian Woman Blog and Avid Scribbler, Chayya Syal who l had been stalking on Twitter but never met before. And they were more beautiful in real life, beauty shines from within and they prove that really well. They elevated a special energy you can't buy!
The Migreat team made the event even more fruitful as it wasn't all about work, but you could just unwind and relax with the ladies. Even have a laugh, they filled me with lots of cheer. They even kept us fed with breakfast and lunch, now that's what l call customer service.
Not forgetting a big thank you the Migreat team for organising the event and looking after us. I'll be back for more Migreat loving.
Thanks to all the speakers for taking the time out to speak to us and l look forward to supporting these humble ladies and l look forward to supporting them with social media, SEO, blogging and all thing digital. Just remember, knowledge is key!
