When most of us think of Indian couture fashion we think of traditional lavish bridal garments mixed with what we see in the magazines and only dream of affording one day yet is that really Asian couture? In most cases, no it isn’t and British Asian’s need to get with the times. This is how you do couture, watch and learn from South Asian couture extraordinaire Anamika Khanna.
From researching and reading journals from industry experts around the world, Couture has an element of innovation! Just type into Google images ‘Couture fashion.’ You will find all the images have something in common - they are different, lavish, unique and innovative well arranged pieces of art.
We rarely see Indian couture on one of the four world renowned fashion weeks however, this next designer has broken the barrier. Let me introduce to you one of the only Indian designers that deserves the couture and world class couture fashion accolade to her name - Ananmika Khanna.
Yes, as you may of already guessed from the photos Anamika Khanna is one of two South Asian designers to have showcased at the world’s renowned, Paris Fashion Week and after viewing the breath-taking collection at Stylefile’s London Exhibition l could see why.
Anamika Khanna’s creations are a fusion of western designer innovation, she thinks out of the ‘Asian’ box yet still using traditional South Asian methods within her collection. Many well-known fashion forward celebrities opt to wearing her collections at huge award shows because it is the Bugatti of Indian fashion! For those of you who don’t know Bugatti - it’s one of the most prestigious cars in the world and many fashion experts and myself believe Anamika Khanna is one of the most prestigious collections to own in the world.
The western and eastern fashion fusion intrigues many British and global fashion experts. And l believe when the two elements are combined it brings something extraordinary to the global fashion industry! In business a unique selling point many have not harnessed unlike Anamika Khanna!
I’ve never seen such beautiful Indian fashion in the form of art, even the word ‘beautiful’ is a understatement and bridging on offensive as it’s more than that! Anamika Khanna collections were edgy and superb; words can’t describe just Indian fashion master pieces.
The garments fold, fabric’s and designs were unusual to find in Indian fashion! Finally, a Indian designer brings Indian fashion into the 21st century and at western fashion week levels. Western fashion houses have always been fascinated by Indian fashion yet they have rarely been able to replicate the Indian ora Anamikma Khanna seamlessly produces in her collections.
Funnily enough, l spoke to the designer who complimented me on my outfit yet she looked wonderful in a luxury casual bat-winged piece. She’s one designer l admire with her classy and elegant Asian fashion dress sense! I don’t think l’ve ever seen her having a bad fashion day. I loved her and her collection, an inspirational lady!
