Bollywood vs. Hollywood, Celebs on the Red Carpet

You might of seen the photos in the blog plastered all over social media; that’s because Cannes Film Festival and Billboard Awards 2014 took place this week.

As you all know l like to make this British Asian fashion blog unique with the content in my blogs. As a result, I’ve decided to do something very different to other blogs and publications.

As you all may know by now Sara K blog covers western and eastern fashion trends so this post we will have a fashion battle between east vs. west celebrity fashion on the red carpet.

I’ve picked the best dressed Cannes Film Festival and Billboard Awards. I judged from media, bloggers and fashionistas.

On the east side (photo 1) we have Indian beauties;

  • Aishwarya Rai Bachan - Do l ever need to introduce her?
  • Sonam Kapoor - Indian actress.
  • Freida Pinto - Slum Dog Millionaire star.

Representing the west (photo 2) we have the following celebs;

  • Iggy Azalea - Australian recording artist and model.
  • Jennifer Lopez - World famous American singer.
  • Kendal Jenner - Kim Kardishian’s younger sister.

The western ladies kept it very plain and focused on cut and colour (AND a bit of flesh). They wore long, free flowing dresses to catch the eye of paparazzi. Kendal used her model figure to create sex appeal to get the media snapping her up.

The eastern ladies came in true India look & style with dresses made by dresses all over the world focusing on hand embroidery and dazzling gold detailing to give them that WOW element.

Finally, we are able to see east and west celebs red carpet fashion parallel to each other. Both parties have their own social fashion norms and it’s nice to see desi garments and Asian fashion designers garments on the red carpet e.g. Sonam Kapoor saree is by Anamika Khanna Couture.

What do you think and who do you think wins the battle?
